How did burgers came into the french cuisine?
Burger has been create in Hamburg, Germany, so the first french region that has offered this new meal was Alsace.
For years, burger has a bad reputation in France because it was directly linked to bad quality fast-foods. Then, the implement of Mac Donald (in Strasbourg, 1979) has widely developed the consumption of burgers in France. Many Strasbourg citizens were more than happy to choose the cheaper famous cheeseburger instead of the traditional sauerkraft. In 1982, 33% of the French < 25 years were already seduced by this German meal.
French chef, seeing this new food trend, decided to adapt this recipe by adding the “french touch” and local ingredients. Maïté, a famous french cheffe, has launched a special burger recipe with farmhouse bread, salad, gizzard, duck breast fillets and warmed foie gras.

Ingredients| French cuisine
- 4 burger buns
- 1 can of Hénaff Pork Pâté 156g
- 1 tomato
- 4 slices of cheese (sort of processed cheese such as Gouda)
- Some salad leaves
- Ketchup
Cooking steps|French Cuisine
- Toast slightly the burger buns
- Cut the Hénaff Pork Pâté into 4 thin slices
- Preheat the oven on the grill mode at 180° C
- On the bottom bread, put 1 slice of Hénaff Pork Pâté and 1 slice of cheese. Put it in the oven to melt the cheese.
- Then, add 1 or 2 slices of tomato, some salad and the ketchup.
- Finally, add on the top the other bread.
